Series 1-IV DVD boxset

Red Dwarf: Just the Shows - Vol. 1 may come in a damn fine box, but it also comes with a truly awful name. And "Vol. 1" should've been "Byte One" to coincide with the VHS releases anyway.


Ganymede & Titan reported on this earlier in the week. Today's update on the official site brings us even more details.

In terms of extras, there are none whatsoever. (Hence the name Just the Shows.) To accommodate this lack of extras, new still menus have been created. And they do look rather dandy:



I'll be buying the boxset if only for the packaging. But why anybody else would want to buy a boxset without any extras is beyond me. Here's what the official site says about it:

Just the Shows - Volume 1 is very much designed for those who use bonus discs as coasters. It's a chance to get straight to the episodes as seen on TV.

The boxset is due for release on October 18th with a recommended retail price of £34.99.
