The Movie shooting down-under

Doug Naylor has confirmed that Red Dwarf - The Movie will be shot in Australia:

We had originally planned for Shepperton, but at the time we were told there were no studios available. We looked everywhere... Australia's the sci-fi capital of the world right now. Star Wars, The Matrix, Farscape... It's the ideal place for Red Dwarf.

Doug also confirmed that the film will feature a new race of villains, the Homo Sapienoids, "a fearsome combination of flesh and machine" responsible for killing off the human race. He refused to reveal any more details of the film, only saying: "It'll involve a red spaceship."

Initial design work is currently being carried out ahead of a September shoot.
